Dear Colleagues,
We resumed negotiations with the Caregivers and Healthcare Employees Union (CHEU) on September 2. During the session, the union provided us with multiple counterproposals and the parties reached two new tentative agreements (Article 10 – Union Representatives and Article 22 – Reduction in Force). While we had hoped to see more movement in the union’s economic counterproposal, we appreciate the collaborative discussions and look forward to continuing our momentum at our next session.
Our Initial Economic Package – 8/20
We’ve received several questions about the initial economic package we presented during our August 20 bargaining session, and we wanted to provide examples of the proposed wage structure we shared with the union at the table.
CHEU Non-Professional Proposed Wage Structure
- An average total increase of 14.92% from current rates through a three-year wage structure
- An average pay increase of 6.07% Ratification
- An average pay increase of 3.42% on September 2027
- An average pay increase of 4.76% on July 2028
CHEU Technical Proposed Wage Structure
- An average total increase of 12.73% from current rates through a three-year wage structure
- An average pay increase of 4.52% at Ratification
- An average pay increase of 3.66% on September 2027
- An average pay increase of 4.04% on July 2028
Additionally, below are some examples of how staff would progress through the wage structure throughout the life of the contract.
As with any opening proposal, this package represents a starting point for negotiations, and we anticipate continued dialogue and movement from both parties as the bargaining process moves forward.
The parties are scheduled to meet again on September 16. Earlier this week, both sides agreed to extend the current contract through September 30, 2026, while negotiations continue.
As always, we encourage you to visit arcadiacheunegotiations.com for the most current information and updates from the bargaining table.
With appreciation,
